Successful Young Bloggers

Blogging to Retire Young

Are there any bloggers out there who aren’t over the 20? I have been finding more and more blogs by 14-15 year olds. It seems like 14 is a very popular age to begin blogging, or lot’s of people are lying. I was over reading a post on blogbadly.com who’s also 14 by the way) and he had a post about Carlocab. I was immediately interested because personally, I don’t understand why everybody likes his site, and blogbadly agreed with me. The site honestly looks like a spam site, and he doesn’t even write good posts. They don’t help anybody either. Blogbadly made a list of his last 13 posts and I found it very humorous so I’m posting it.

Here were the last 13 posts by carlocab.com

3 sponsored posts
5 posts he didn’t even write
2 posts full of other peoples content
1 vague post about groceries
1 post with a bunch of pictures of his schoolmates and him
1 post about a contest he won
0 beneficial, money-making posts out of 13.

Now granted that was back in March, let’s stroll over in October and see what he posts about now.

1st a less then 150 word rant about nothing
2nd a post he didn’t even write
3rd another rant about some girl he though was pretty
4th a self proclaimed rant, about sending him emails
5th another post he didn’t write
6th A competition results
7th And then finally a post, I didn’t say a good one but a post

So in seven blog posts, and the last month, he’s written four garbage posts, two good posts but not by him, and one post actually by him, but it looks like he bought it because the grammar and spelling is good. What do people like about his site?!?!

The only conclusion I can come to, is that it’s because he’s 13. O wait, he isn’t is he… and yet… that’s his big selling point. He’s actually 15 now, which honestly isn’t that impressive considering how many successful 14 year old bloggers there are. However, I can’t argue the facts, which is that is site is doing incredible, I just wonder why, maybe his earlier posts will shed some more light.

However, there are some very successful bloggers under the age of 20 who are successful because of content. I already shared with you blogbadly.com another one I’d recommend is theuniversitykid.com and also thegermz.com

These are three great blogs, who get visits because of their content, not because of their age. If you are under 20 people shouldn’t be able to tell, and you shouldn’t have to tell them to get traffic.

He did have some stuff in the beginning…also hooked himself into some big name marketers and GREW fast.

Now it’s just the chow effect lol, big enough to still make money with crap content.

You can’t generalize that younger bloggers are not good. I’ve seen many successful youngsters of my age around.

I’m 13, but started my blogging more than a year back and I find the experience as one of the most enjoyable; no doubt my readers also agree fully!

Thank you for sharing this post about young bloggers.

Meghna, I definitely wasn’t trying to generalize against young bloggers. I am a teenage blogger my self, and so I wasn’t trying to discredit myself. All I meant was that, people often use their age as an advertising tool, to sell their product that often isn’t as good as they claim, but because of their age they can get away with it. If you noticed, at the bottom of the page, I listed a few other teenage bloggers who I really like, and are very good. I hope that makes sense, please don’t think I was trying to insult you, or me, or other young bloggers in anyway. I was just ranting about carlocab.

Hi Jonathan,
Yes, maybe. But I didn’t mean to say that you’re against teen bloggers, being one yourself :)

By the way, you have a wonderful site here. Thanks for sharing.
