Do the Blogs you read really care about you?
I have a special treat for all of you readers. The purpose of this blog is to talk about, “How to Get Traffic,” and to celebrate “mastersofseo” reaching the first page in google for How to Get Traffic, I’m going to be doing a series of very special blog posts.

You may have been wondering why I’ve been posting so little the last few days and the reason is because I had a really cool idea, and I’ve been working on it. I sent an email to all the top bloggers in the niche, make money online/make money blogging. People like john chow, problogger, doshdosh… In the message I asked them, all very politely of course, if they wouldn’t mind replying with some advice on how they got traffic to their site, so that I could share them with my readers. I sent the email to 25 bloggers, who are all in different areas of success. Some Very successful, and some up and coming bloggers, and I’m going to share with you their responses.
But the other point in doing this, is because I was curious as to who would respond. Who would take the time out of their day, to reply to their readers, (me.) Because I want to give them each two weeks to respond, because they are all very busy, I won’t be able to share all the details of the experiment until 11/5, exactly two weeks from when I sent them it last Wednesday. Several have already responded, however most haven’t yet. I will inform you as I go which of these popular bloggers, really care about their readers, and which ones are too full of themselves to respond. I will be comparing them in several different ways, so look forward to the comparisons!
However, I did not only send this to people like johnchow, there were also a lot of smaller bloggers, who should definitely respond as they are not making enough money to start ignoring their readers. This will be very interesting to see, which bloggers care about you, and which ones don’t. And even if I don’t get any responses, from all 25 of them, then at least you’ll be able to see which of the blogs you read really are trying to help you, and which are using you.

It will definitely be interesting to see who responds. The thing is the more popular blogs will be getting a lot of emails similar to yours so it will be impossible for them to reply to the majority of them don’t you think?

That’s true John to some extent, but not for all. With John Chow/shoemoney/problogger I’d be shocked to get a reply. But those were only a couple of them cause I wanted to say I got an email from them. Most of them were sites that are up and coming like thoushallblog.com, or linkersblog.com ones that can’t afford to piss of their readers just yet, but we’ll see as their popularity continues to grow.

As of now no… but I’ve gotten a couple replies so far, let’s hope some more come in, in the next couple days, otherwise I’ll just be ranting about how nobody cares about their readers anymore.

Of course not Yan, and I didn’t mean to sound like I was saying that either. You are incredibly responsive for a blogger, which I definitely appreciate. I was just using your site as an example because of it’s great success recently.

LOL….thanks for the ‘incredible’ compliment. It’s no longer a secret but that’s how I build the community around my blog. I never feel like talking to a blog here as you’ve always responded to all my comments here and I do appreciate the effort as well.

I think it depends on the situation and what they are doing at the time. I know that for example, John Chow and Darren Rowse got where they are by caring about their readers. I am sure they still do and know but the problem is, they are only 1 person and may have some help, but they still have to live their life.
Also, once you get to the point that they are at, you can be selective to which ones you respond to. I read a pretty cool article on Courtney Tuttle regarding this.
Anyway, I too look forward to see what they say too

That is true Ben, and I’m not expecting them to respond, I’m just hoping they will lol. But I also sent it to bloggers that aren’t quite as popular as john chow and Darren Rowse, so that way you’ll still get some responses at least.

lol well I would do it, but personally I doubt either will reply. It’s been 9 days and neither has replied yet. I sent out a second message today asking if they wouldn’t consider replying again, but as of yet there’s no response. Unfortunately I don’t think it’s going to happen.

Honestly, they’ll never respond because they write about how they attract traffic. Asking them that question is a bit insulting. Just my opinion.

I disagree Michael. Asking a blogger who writes about making money online is not insulting. It is just that they are busy most of the time is why they won’t respond. Also, some of them are just straight dicks.
