Why Should I Comment?

How to Blog.

You have just finished reading a blog post, and you nod your head, it was a good post, and then you click to the next website in your browser. You’ve done that millions of times, why would you do anything else? Why should you bother commenting? Sure you enjoyed it, maybe even learned some things, but your a busy person, you can’t afford the time to comment.

If that’s you, and I know that we are all guilty of that a lot, then it’s time to change. If you run a blog, and you want it to get more traffic, links, PR, comments… you NEED to start commenting Alot. That’s the way most popular sites have started off, from commenting up to 50+ times a day. The three keys to getting a popular site is have great original content, to post frequently, and to comment insane amounts.

On December 2nd, I had a commenting spree. And I sent out about 30-40 comments in one day, which honestly isn’t a ton, but it is when you are really busy. That one day of commenting created incredible results for my blog, in all aspects. My Alexa ranking was 87K for that one day dropping my total down to 153K, my subscribers jumped by almost twenty. And my Technorati, dropped below 100K to 88K because of the new links I got. And these new readers are now coming back.

Not only did this give me a lot of traffic, but it put my blog out for new visitors to see. I got almost 20 new subscribers in two days, and many new links from it. When you comment repeatably on a site, then you can get on the top of their top commentator lists, which gives you a free link as well, and also more traffic because people are curious who the top people are. Commenting is a must for all bloggers, and by getting yourself into the habit of commenting after every post, you’ll greatly help your blog. And not only that, but if you do it right, then you can help your site’s search engine rankings as well. That’s four pluses right there, and now I realize it takes some time, but if you can get in a habit you will immediately start seeing results.

Another important reason, is the relationships you can start to develop. Relationships are really underrated on the internet, but knowing the right people can be hugely helpful for promotion. You can get guest posting opportunities, do advertising together, or you can even start sites together, combining your online talents. Besides my site’s results for proof, there are three bloggers who are pinnacle examples of the commenting art. They are what I like to call the “Comment Kings of the Blogging World,” or just “Comment Kings” for short. These guys are EVERYWHERE. You couldn’t escape them even if you wanted to. It doesn’t matter what your blog is about. I think they should create a wordpress plugin that can block the “Comment Kings,” because if you create a blog on the Internet, they’ll find you and leave a comment lol. And their sites are definitely showing the results of their persistent effort.

They are,

Dennis Edell from http://www.directsaleswebmarketing.com
Danny Cooper from http://www.linkersblog.com
Yan Susanto from http://www.thoushallblog.com

So what does all this mean for you?

Step One, go onto your google account, and create a google.com/reader account.
Step Two, all the blogs that you read, add their urls onto the account by typing in the urls in the add subscription box.
Step Three, check this every day if you can, and everytime they write a new post, comment on it.
Step Four, go to these three secret sites, if you are Yan, Danny, or Dennis reading this post, you aren’t allowed to click on these. :)

Secret URL 1
Secret URL 2
Secret URL 3

Why spend all the effort trying to find the new sites to comment on? Yan, Dennis, and Danny, already do the work for us, just follow their accounts, from the secret urls, and then they will show you lots of new sites, that will be easy to get on the top commentator lists, and thus get free links from. You will be able to start building relationships by becoming a frequent commentator, and you will be able to get traffic back to your site as well.

Step Five, add these new sites to your google reader, (maybe on another account) and start commenting on these as well.

I promise you will start seeing results in no time.

Template Issues

By admin

I apologize for having this site be so messed up for so long. I’ve been hammering out some template issues, and then upgrading wordpress… and all kinds of other fun stuff. So this is the template I’ll be having for now, I’d love to hear your comments. And yes, you can comment now as well. The comment boxes weren’t working for several days, but they are now up and active.

If you missed it, I wrote two great posts in the past week. One on increasing your RSS subcribers which you can, and another on how to use twitter. I’ve been using twitter more and more recently, so if you want to follow me on twitter you’ll be a lot more updated, and I look forward to interacting with you on it.

Once again I apologize for all of the confusion, and thank you for bearing with me. I’ll be getting back into a routine with blogposting, so make sure you subcribe to my RSS or Email feed, by using the box in the sidebar, for more updates on How to Blog.

Make Money Online Bloggers (2 of 3)

By admin

Before you read this article make sure you read the first part of series here, otherwise this article won’t make much sense to you.

Below is the list of those who responded to my email, I’m going to let you know how long it took them to respond, and whether or not they actually contributed. Yesterday I rewarded them all with links, for simply responding, but now I’m going to tell you who sent tips. Then tomorrow I’m going to give you the actual tips that they sent.

Again remember, I’m not going to make any judgments, I’m just going to show you how their responses rank, by time, and amount of words.

Comparing the Bloggers by Time of Response

>1 day

Jim from thenetfool.com responded the fastest in an incredible, 8 minutes. He was able to help and sent a small google doc with his suggestions.

Jim from jimkukral.com, responded second in a little more then an hour, with a quick suggestion that has helped him, and will surely help you.

Jason from theuniversitykid.com, responded third within an incredible four hours, with almost a entire page of very useful information.

Stephan from stephanmiller.com responded also fourth in a very short time, however he was unable to help me, because he said he wasn’t able to get to it.

Danny from linkersblog.com was fifth to respond. All three of these bloggers were within several hours. He was able to contribute with a relatively long list of helpful tips.

David from affiliatedragon.com was sixth to respond, but he also was unable to contribute because of business.

Simon from otooo.com was seventh to respond, but he said, “I don’t have the time to write for my blog let alone yours at the moment so I am going to have to decline.”

1-2 days

Yan from thoushallblog.com was eighth, he responded a little more then a day later, which is still quite impressive.

Glen from viperchill.com was ninth, he responded in about two days. He was also able to help with some good suggestions.

Syed from balkhis.com was tenth, he told me he would be able to help, but I guess he forgot or something because he never responded with the tips.

John from johncow.com was eleventh, and he said he was to busy to help.

3-4 days

Collin from collinlahay.com was

twelfth, and he was the longest in four days, although he was also able to contribute.

4+ days

N/A

My Comments

I was very impressed with all this, I mean I don’t typically respond to my emails in less then a few days, and I’m sure I don’t get as many as these people.

Next I am going to compare the seven who did respond with tips, by how many words were in each of their contributions.

Amount of words in their tips

1st

Danny from linkersblog.com, his tip was 365 words

2nd

Jim from theuniversitykid.com, his tip was 254 words

3rd

Jim from thenetfool.com, his tip was 253 words

4th

Collin from collinlahay.com, his tip was 166 words

5th

Yan from thoushallblog.com, his tip was 109 words

6th

Glen from viperchill.com, his tip was 82 words

7th

Jim from jimkukral.com, his tip was 48 words

My Comments

All in all I was very impressed with how quick people responded. Although, I was very disappointed that only 12 of the 21 bloggers responded, and of those 11 only 7 actually contributed. I want to thank again everybody who sent responses, and make sure you come back tomorrow, for the third and final part of this series. As I show you what these professional bloggers actually said are the keys on, how to get traffic.
