8 steps to becoming an Entrecard powerhouse

Author: Will Fowler | Filed under: Linking

So after doing entrecard for two more weeks, I’ve realized the 8 steps to becoming an Entrecard powerhouse.

1.

Advertise on as many of the cheap sites as you can. Forget the advertising on the huge sites, until you have lots of credits. The key to gaining traffic from it, is by having a large cost to advertise on your site. And the way you do that is advertising on lots of sites. So check the "most recent" tab as many times a day as you can. And every time there’s a new site that just joined. Advertise on it, this will help the cost of your site grow dramatically. And keep this up.

2.

Most bloggers have several sites. Put entrecard on all these different sites using different email addresses. Then if you have three blogs, then you’ll have three sites generating credits, then you can just send them all to the site that you want to profit the most, or split them up how you choose.

3.

If you don’t fit in the above category with having several sites. Go to blogspot and sign in with your google account (if you going to succeed as a blogger you need one btw) and create another blog. They only take a minute. Then copy an article from ezinearticle, or goarticles. And post them on the site. It’s not illegal as long as you give the person credit, just leave a link to the writer’s site. And then post up the entrecard widget and you can generate more credits that way.

4.

Every day or couple days go to the top five sites in your respective category on entrecard, and drop your card on their blog. And go in a new window to the site that is advertising on that site. Keep going till you end up on a site you’ve already been on. Usually it only takes about 20-30 sites before you end up having done a circle. And that’s enough to keep the cost of your site from dropping, and as long as you keep advertising on the most recent sites then enough to keep it moving up.

5.

Don’t stop! You have to keep doing this for up to two weeks. If you stop for even a day you will see your site suffer. It doesn’t take very long, but you need to spend the five minutes every day otherwise your site will drop very quickly. After those couple weeks it should be powerful enough to stay afloat by itself.

6.

When you create an account don’t accept all the blogs right away. Accept a few then wait for the cost of your site to move up, then accept them. That way it’ll earn you more credits.

7.

Don’t hide your entrecard ad way at the bottom of your website. People will go to your site to drop the card on your widget, and nothing is more annoying then having to search through a ton of clustered ads to find the entrecard one. Make sure that people can find it.

8.

When you have extra credits after advertising on the most recent sites, advertise the rest on the most recommend or lowest wait. Personally I do lowest wait, because that way my ad will be up on their site sooner and they usually cost less. But it won’t generate as much traffic.

So there it is, follow these 8 steps and you’ll be on your way to becoming an entrecard powerhouse.

How is my site doing?

Author: Will Fowler | Filed under: Tips

The number one question for a new blogger is, how is my site doing? When you first start though you may not have realized it, it will take weeks probably months before you will have a steady traffic base and be able to start making money. So you pass the time by watching statcounter or anaylitics, and keep clicking on the refresh button. Well now I am going to suggest several more ways to pass the time.

One,

This guy named Dane Carlson created this little html thingy, sponsered by technorati. And you just type in your blog address, and it will give you a guess about how much your site is worth. Now don’t get your hopes up, it’s not realistic. But hey, everybody likes knowing that according to this site their blog is worth thousands of dollars. Here’s the link.

Two,

Here’s a similar program but that is more extensive. It’s called dnscoop. It also shows, links to your site which is very fun to check up on. Everybody wants to see if anyone has linked to their site. Two links are nice, but if they do it with no reward, lol it just feels good.

Three,

Go onto google and type in the web address of your site without the .com. Like for this site I would type in, mastersofseo and then press enter. It shows all the sites that you have done something on, and also those that have linked to you.

 Fourth,

This site. It also shows an estimated worth, and the links, and the google ranking.

Fifth,

The last one, is Alexa ranking. This is similar to google, if you comparing a mosquito to an elephant. But many people do use it, and the ranking is more fun to follow cause your constantly moving up and down.

So there you go, hopefully these will help pass the time till you have a consistent reader list.

I am creating a new page on this site, that will explain the SEO language. Please comment below on any terms that either you don’t understand now, or didn’t understand when you started. Things like, SEO, RSS, PR… That sort of thing.

I know that I spent the first couple weeks of my blogging experiance, learning these terms and how to use them. With this new page you can just click the term you don’t understand. And it will give you a simple explanation. So please comment below with these terms.

Thanks!

Building Links Through Blog Comments

Author: Will Fowler | Filed under: Linking

Building quality one-way links is a key in good search engine rankings. One great way to do this is to comment on blogs. When doing this, there are a couple of ‘do’s’ and ‘dont’s’ that I would like to point out, and I’ll walk through some steps to finding blogs, and what types of blogs you should comment on.

The best blogs you can comment on are high PR (definition of PR) blogs that are relevant to your website. You can go with low PR blogs that are relevant to your site, or high PR blogs that are not relevant to your site. Neither of those are as good, but both will work.

So how do you find a high-ranking blog that’s relevant to your site? Simple answer: Google. Just search for some term that’s relevant to your site, and tack on ‘blog’ at the end. For starters, you probably want to do at least ten blogs (you can always go back and do more later). If no blogs seem to show up under your search term, you can either try a different term, or go to a good blog directory and look around in there. Be resourceful.

So you’ve found a good blog that seems to be legitimate, and has good posts. Just comment on a post with a link back to your blog? Bad idea. What you don’t want to do is spam. Spamming is bad, and anyone trying to do anything legitimate should stay away from spam. Don’t put unrelevant material where it doesn’t belong, because it annoys people, and they will ignore it. What you want to do is read the post. I know, it takes time, but you don’t have to read it thouroughly. Just skim it, and find something that you can comment on. For example: "I liked that post. X point was quite interesting," or something of the sort. Then just leave a hypertext link back to your blog. Make it as if the link was your name, or your signature. If the site doesn’t allow html, then just post your url with the "http://".

If you don’t have the time to read the post, or if you’re in a hurry, then you can always say ‘nice post’ and then sign it with your site. But you’re more likely to be considered a spammer, and the blog owner may delete your comment. It’s up to you.
