PR - Page Rank and Press Releases

What does PR mean? To an internet marketing newbie, there is probably a lot of common terminology that is mysterious and seems extraordinarily complex. Really, it's not so bad. When using the term 'PR' people usually mean 'Page Rank' (it can also mean 'Press Release' which I will discuss shortly). Page rank is simply a number from 1 to 10 assigned to a certain page that's indexed in Google. The higher your page rank is in Google, the more authority you have. And Google is the only search engine you need worry yourself about (if you're a newbie). A Page rank '4' is a very good ranking, and many sites you look at will have a '0'.

The other thing that 'PR' can refer to is a 'Press Release'. This is simply a term given to an article of some sort that has to do with something relevant or cutting-edge. You can use Press Releases in conjunction with social bookmarking and networking sites to generate huge streams of traffic, but this isn't where we'll go into that.
